In case anyone is wondering why that’s #1.

Maybe they were looking for this guy.
If not, that too is sad. To their credit, at least Googlers know how to spell Brett Favre.

Although I would think that some would capitalize proper nouns just out of habit, so I still hold my previous assumption.
HititHere - August 19, 2010 reply
(Not really, I just, for whatever reason, think that a user name that ends in numbers looks silly capitalized. Without the 81, it would be capitalized.)
and theorize that its because Google covers so many more people… You’re casting a wider net to find the “low” in “lowest common denominator”!
NWade - August 19, 2010 reply
But I believe emotes are considered chatspeak and therefore frowned-upon here, no?
NWade - August 20, 2010 reply
But not with emotes.

If youre not Gator, youre Gator bait.

In the Twitter search, it’s “Derrek.” In the Google search, it’s “Derek.” Jeff is just neurotic enough to give a shit.
Oh, and the Lookout Landing favicon looks like field goal goalposts. Just sayin’.

But I think the preponderance of RTs on Twitter drives correct spelling. Assuming ESPN spells the name correctly.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the 19th Amendment's ratification
In case anyone is wondering why that’s #1.
Milendriel - August 19, 2010
That's not really why but zomg politics
lemonverbena - August 19, 2010
Also, don't hate on Google users
Maybe they were looking for this guy.
Milendriel - August 19, 2010
I'm assuming that Google automatically lowercases their search terms to provide consistency.
If not, that too is sad. To their credit, at least Googlers know how to spell Brett Favre.
ralphie81 - August 19, 2010
Who capitalizes their search terms?
Jeff Sullivan - August 19, 2010
I capitalize by rote
Matthew - August 19, 2010
Same here.
pdb - August 19, 2010
Hmm, good point. I guess it's not that sad.
Although I would think that some would capitalize proper nouns just out of habit, so I still hold my previous assumption.
ralphie81 - August 19, 2010
The amusing part, to me, is that your own name is not capitalized.
HititHere - August 19, 2010
I had to compensate for the fact that it's all caps in my picture.
(Not really, I just, for whatever reason, think that a user name that ends in numbers looks silly capitalized. Without the 81, it would be capitalized.)
ralphie81 - August 19, 2010
I'm going to take a numerological standpoint on this
and theorize that its because Google covers so many more people… You’re casting a wider net to find the “low” in “lowest common denominator”!
NWade - August 19, 2010
This post isn't actually intended to be taken seriously
Jeff Sullivan - August 19, 2010
Neither was my reply, but being a weak-ass humorous comment, it needed a smiley emoticon to make it clear.
But I believe emotes are considered chatspeak and therefore frowned-upon here, no?
NWade - August 20, 2010
Frowned upon, yes.
But not with emotes.
ralphie81 - August 20, 2010
Up yours, James Wilder!
If youre not Gator, youre Gator bait.
Slica - August 19, 2010
You're a thief and a scoundrel.
Kudos.

Seems like nobody is getting it...
In the Twitter search, it’s “Derrek.” In the Google search, it’s “Derek.” Jeff is just neurotic enough to give a shit.

bsick - August 19, 2010
What made you assume no one got it?
greymstreet - August 19, 2010
He didn't get it.
abender20 - August 20, 2010
And Jeff was joking as well.
Slurvey - August 19, 2010
I think...
Slurvey - August 19, 2010
I've thought the same thing for years!
Dewey N - August 19, 2010
I noticed that but kept looking because I thought something else was there that made this worthy of screenshotting.
qrsouther - August 19, 2010
