I was right. That was hardly fair.

This series should be more fair though. After all, a difference of 210 runs to date is basically just a small rounding error. The Mariners could easily be the better team actually. What are you going to trust: numbers or the sheer magnetism of Ryan Langerhans?

Alternatively, you could watch the Little League World Series instead. I won't be, but as of yet I am unable to prevent others from watching it. Someday. To their credit, they have instant replay driven by challenges which is exactly the proper venue to test out the feasibility of such a system. If it flops, no big deal. If it works, great! Like how the Mariners should be trying out potential 2011 contributors right now. Or I suppose you could keep playing Casey Kotchman and Jose Lopez.

Mon Aug 23, 16:10: Doug Fister vs. John Lackey

Tue Aug 24, 16:10: David Pauley vs. Josh Beckett

Wed Aug 25, 10:35: Felix Hernandez vs. Jon Lester*

The much anticipated return of David Pauley to Boston. I imagine there will be all kinds of sparks and intrigue on a level not seen since that vaunted Ichiro Suzuki vs. Daisuke Matsuzaka first match up or that time Bill Hall played against us.

Do individual achievements get colored by the team's overall performance in the season during which the achievement occurs? If given the choice right now, would you rather Felix have thrown a no-hitter in 2007/9 or in 2008/10? Would anyone pick the latter? Even if it changed nothing about the team's overall record, wouldn't you prefer Ichiro's hits record to have been done in 2003 than in 2004?

So John Lackey has forgotten how to pitch against lefties
Too busy being awesome?
In your dreams
John, Josh, Jon, Doug, David, Felix

What a collection of names we have in this series.

Upgrading the Mariners lineup

Is difficult.

I'm pretty pumped on that lineup.
Two Gutis!
Looks like they ran with my cloning idea
Guti giving Figgins a break by batting second and fourth!
Ichiro's record in 2004 at least gave me something about the year to be proud of.

For the same reason, I think a no-hitter in an off-year would be more fun than a no-no during a competitive season.

At this point, why not play Langerhans at first and Saunders in left against right handers?

It would get Saunders out there more and make me happier-less Kotchman.

Saunders is more hurt than was previously thought

at least this has been rumor, per Drayer and others. Langerhans should certainly play, although I don’t see the use of platooning Tui if there is any interest in knowing what he can do.

On the whole, knowing what the Sox can do to a fastball and playing them in Fenway etc.. it really doesn’t matter very much does it?

The Red Sox Offense is the 2nd best against FB, 2nd best against CH, and 4th best against CB in all of MLB

According to Fangraphs Pitch Type Values.

They’re 21st against SL, 14th against CT, and 15 against SF.

I have no idea which I would prefer
