Pineda! Alllllllllright. (Jeff's note: on TV!)

Gameday Link

I'm sure there's other reasons to watch. I challenge you all to name some without using the letters 'a' or 'e'.

Smok, Ckly, Corts, Luk
I'm....good work....guy.

/Lenny

Hope Michael Pineda's say winds up being better than Cliff Lee's.
I'm watching 'cause Fuuuuuuuck da M's
Pineda gave up a hit :(
Halman has one more option left, right?
Yes.
I thought options have to do with being called up to the bigs

Why would Halman have used up any? Or is there another kind of option I don’t know about

It's a common misconception.

Halman has been placed on the 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft (that’s a whole ’nother subthread) and at the beginning of the past two seasons, he has been optioned to double-A and triple-A, burning through two of his option years.

Once a player is optioned, they can be called up or sent down an unlimited number of times without issue, but if the player no longer has option years, they need to pass through waivers in order to go down to the minor leagues and would be removed from the 40-man roster in the process.

and I'm looking at it, and it seems that Halman wouldn't qualify for a fourth option year.
Hard to name reasons without using both.

No E:
I am an avid fan of this sport, and our AAA club is going for a playoff spot.

For a lame read look up A Void

a novel written without the letter e.

Boy will we look foolish voting him into first place

if he keeps giving up hits to guys with women’s names

Hey Jay, why hasn't Jharmidy de Jesus played this year? I haven't found any stories about him from 2010.
Injured, I don't know with what specifically.

His conditioning and work ethic have always been for shit. I have no idea why some people were putting him in the top ten after his debut other than we threw a chunk of money at him.

Jeff Heaverlo is in the booth.

This violates the e and a thing.

CARP HR!!!!
And then Smoak "double"
5'9" seems rather generous for Sean Kazmar
What, pray, would qualify as a 'soft 95'?
Whatever it is Ian Snell does.
But I see your point

Batista could sit around 94-95 a couple years back but it seemed more hittable than Fister’s stuff.

I would guess he means deceptive.
Or perceived velocity, which is different from actual velocity and has to do with release point and angle and such.
I was hoping Pineda would pitch better than this.
I'd shut Pineda down after this start.
Any particular reason from this game or just a high workload for the season?
Hitting good numbers on velocity, but falling behind against a shitty team and giving up dingers.

Also workload.

I wouldn't have let him make this start.

But whatever.

Neither would I but it's kind of moot when he's standing on the mound.
Softy has his own TV show?

What fresh hell?

Apparently for a while.

God knows why.

Alfonzo hates walking. It kind of makes sense.
Mangini!
Do you expect him in the bigs anytime soon?

Just wondering

I have no clue.

I think they’re gonna give Tui his playing time now. And once Smoak gets back up, the infield might be crowded. I can’t see him getting any consistent playing time, but they might give him a September callup.

Do you see Mangini as a trade chip by any chance?
I think almost anyone is fair game for Z.

I don’t know how great of a trade chip he’d be, though. He’s never had good offensive stats until this year, and his defense is suspect. His value may never be higher though, and I’m pretty sure we’re in need of some 40-man roster spots, so maybe he goes away.

To a NL team maybe.
In HD, Ji-Man Choi triples.

If he’s a catcher, he could be an awesome prospect. Even if he’s not, the bat is supposedly legit, and he’s doing fairly well at A+ at 19.

In other news, I’m pretty sure Kyle Seager is going to be our next Willie Bloomquist. Hitting .347 though, with a 2B and a HR tonight.

He was absolutely killing it in the AZL
Batting .400 for a while there.
Left handed batter too!
I <3 Choi
Where the hell did he even come from?

Seems like he wasn’t on anybody’s radar before very recently.

Top prep bat in Korea

We signed him last April.

He came up as a 3B but they haven't tried it yet as a pro.
He should stay out at catcher.

Next Joe Mauer?

I'd avoid making comps to the best catcher of our generation.
Plenty of people do it with Ackley.
Who doesn't catch.
And is way older with a ton of scouting reports, video and now a season of high minors
And it's still annoying
This was what I was going for.
You win for the conclusion.
Tennis court HR? Wow thats pretty far.
Josh Geer gives up lots of dingers.
He loves to put 'em down the middle
Not sure if he notices.

He seems to have that Geer in the headlights look.

Wow a grand slam.
Brad Nelson, ladies and gents.
Maybe the Mariners should play in Cheney.

We would rack up those dingerz

This is an unusual game and the park factor typically suppresses home runs from both sides of the plate.
Just look at the park factors!

Damnit Jeff, how can we be the elite if we share information?
We don't tell them how to use the information
Worked for WAR and UZR
Now the retards are even more apparent than before
And we also provide more than they can process, correct?
We sure do

Nicely played, Jeff.
Stop. You're giving Dan Brown an idea for another shitty book
The secret is David Aardsma throws too many fastballs
Jack Zduriencik was the bad guy the whole time!
Who plays the albino?
I nominate Eric Byrnes
Who says I'm using actual numbers there?
It's the look of professionalism that counts.
This is a fucking circus
Levale Speigner is a surprisingly bivalent name
This game is really fucking slow.
But dingers
Tacoma bullpen needs some help
That's because the Tacoma bullpen became the Mariners bullpen.

Also they used Lueke last night and there’s no point in using Cortes.

Still, Speigner in the 5th instead of Shell would have been nice.
Speigner has been shit for the past month.
I'm kind of enjoying Heaverlo as a colour man.
Ok, when the Tuglett hits one out...
That's the 10th dinger of the night
Every one of Mangini, Tuglet, Ackley, and Smoak are better than our current infield.
Goodness, but Dan's locks have gotten even more luxurious.
Cortes blows.

We gave up Yuni for this guy?
