Halman has been placed on the 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft (that’s a whole ’nother subthread) and at the beginning of the past two seasons, he has been optioned to double-A and triple-A, burning through two of his option years.
Once a player is optioned, they can be called up or sent down an unlimited number of times without issue, but if the player no longer has option years, they need to pass through waivers in order to go down to the minor leagues and would be removed from the 40-man roster in the process.

Halman has one more option left, right?
Decatur - August 26, 2010
Yes.
JY - August 26, 2010
I thought options have to do with being called up to the bigs
Why would Halman have used up any? Or is there another kind of option I don’t know about
greymstreet - August 26, 2010
It's a common misconception.
JY - August 26, 2010
and I'm looking at it, and it seems that Halman wouldn't qualify for a fourth option year.
JY - August 26, 2010
Hard to name reasons without using both.

His conditioning and work ethic have always been for shit. I have no idea why some people were putting him in the top ten after his debut other than we threw a chunk of money at him.

Snell can hit 95?
Bearskin Rugburn - August 26, 2010

Bearskin Rugburn - August 26, 2010
I would guess he means deceptive.
Double06 - August 26, 2010
Or perceived velocity, which is different from actual velocity and has to do with release point and angle and such.

I was hoping Pineda would pitch better than this.
Double06 - August 26, 2010
I'd shut Pineda down after this start.
JY - August 26, 2010
Any particular reason from this game or just a high workload for the season?
Double06 - August 26, 2010
Hitting good numbers on velocity, but falling behind against a shitty team and giving up dingers.
Also workload.

Jeff Sullivan - August 26, 2010
Nicely played, Jeff.
dba - August 26, 2010
Stop. You're giving Dan Brown an idea for another shitty book
Matthew - August 26, 2010
The secret is David Aardsma throws too many fastballs
Jeff Sullivan - August 26, 2010
Is he?
Matthew - August 26, 2010
Jack Zduriencik was the bad guy the whole time!
Fuckmikereilly - August 26, 2010
Who plays the albino?
JY - August 26, 2010
I nominate Eric Byrnes
JY - August 26, 2010
Who says I'm using actual numbers there?
Matthew - August 26, 2010
It's the look of professionalism that counts.
JY - August 26, 2010
This is a fucking circus
Bearskin Rugburn - August 26, 2010
Levale Speigner is a surprisingly bivalent name
Bearskin Rugburn - August 26, 2010
This game is really fucking slow.
Fuckmikereilly - August 26, 2010
But dingers
JY - August 26, 2010
Tacoma bullpen needs some help
dba - August 26, 2010

Also they used Lueke last night and there’s no point in using Cortes.
JY - August 26, 2010
Still, Speigner in the 5th instead of Shell would have been nice.
Bearskin Rugburn - August 26, 2010
Speigner has been shit for the past month.
JY - August 26, 2010
I'm kind of enjoying Heaverlo as a colour man.
JY - August 26, 2010
Ok, when the Tuglett hits one out...
msb - August 26, 2010
That's the 10th dinger of the night
dba - August 26, 2010
Every one of Mangini, Tuglet, Ackley, and Smoak are better than our current infield.
Decatur - August 26, 2010
Goodness, but Dan's locks have gotten even more luxurious.
msb - August 26, 2010
Cortes blows.
We gave up Yuni for this guy?
Fuckmikereilly - August 26, 2010
