Sunday SoftbaLL

As is tradition, we're going to put together a softball game the day after the front office event. Matthew has already put up a fanpost, but now shit's getting real.

WHAT: A friendly or heated game(s) of softball

WHEN: Sunday, September 5th, around midday

WHERE: This is where we need you guys to come through. I don't live in Seattle, so I'm no good when it comes to finding a field. If someone could find and maybe reserve us a spot, that'd be super.

Rather than posting your status in the comment thread, do me a favor and use this sign-up list, just to make things simple. There are columns for people definitely playing, people maybe playing, and spectators. If you can't play, and/or are otherwise occupied, shut up, I don't care, you are useless clutter. I will never understand why so many people find it necessary to respond to event posts with declarations that they cannot attend.

By the way, we'll also need some bats and balls. Do all the work!

If you were smart you would have posted this as a fanpost so you could have forced us to rec it to the top.
Bitch please I don't rec-beg
Rec'd
.

These strings really cut off the circulation
I almost want to spectate just to watch Robert strike out.
I haven't struck out since 2008 and I have over a .500 batting average since then.
Because swinging bunts are the epitome of manly hits
Swinging bunts don't generally leave the infield.
I hit a line drive!
My BABIP is through the roof right now.
I mean it's so low that I am real break out canidate and only fools wouldn't spend a first rounder on me.
I'm actually slightly afraid when you come up and we move to autistic Little Leaguer depth that you're going to drill us with a liner eventually
It is my greatest dream.
If I'm a captain, you're my first pick.
LL softball has taught me how much it sucks to see the third baseman catch your line drive.
The trick is to hit it off his shins.

Ask Graham.

Thank you for this
If you can’t play, and/or are otherwise occupied, shut up, I don’t care, you are useless clutter
This comment is useless clutter.
Can't attend this game, sorry.

I’ll be out of the state, unfortunately, but have fun guys!

I can't find the "not attending" column on the spreadsheet
Unfortunately I will be unable to attend as I will be in Nigeria saving lives

But good luck with your little softball game.

I can arrange to provide some bats and balls if someone can pick them up from me.

I can either bring them with me to work in Shoreline and someone can meet me, someone can get them from me at home in Everett, or I suppose I could bring them to the M’s game Saturday night. I don’t know if I’ll be at the “event”, but I already have tickets to the game.

I live in Everett, I can swing by this week whenever convenient.
I sent and email to the address listed on your profile.

If you’re interested we can meet up sometime this week and I can loan you some gear.

Wait where's the column on the sign-up list for "definitely not-attending?"
I added a column if people want to note any equipment they're planning on bringing.

Bats/balls/gloves etc. Last time I attended one of these, there were a lot of people who didn’t have gloves but wanted to come anyways so we should make sure we have a few extras.

For the life of me, I honestly don't understand how so many folks don't have gloves

I barely play baseball/softball anymore and I have a spare OF glove, softball glove and IF glove plus bats and batting gloves at my house

I have maybe 6 gloves.

But I won’t let anyone use them because they’ll screw up the form.

Well yeah, that too, I wouldn't let anyone use my IF glove, but wouldn't you think a group of baseball fans would own baseball gloves?
I could loan a glove, but it's my gamer so I'd require that someone take extra special care of it.
And make 100% sure that it was returned.

Kermit did this for me last time, but I don’t know if he’s attending this event.

Should be able to find at least a glove.

Obviously these people aren’t searching their parent’s basement room good enough.

I had an awesome glove that I lost and refuse to buy another one till I find it,
Where does one buy a softball glove?

I have literally never played softball (or baseball), but might show up and embarrass myself. Or just drink beer and heckle.

Target, Big 5, Fred Meyer, etc.
Sports Authority, Joe's, Gart Sports.
Play it Again Sports

(if you just want a cheapo). Heck, maybe even Goodwill or Value Village.

jeffery.w.sullivan has opened this spreadsheet? Really?
You made no mention of beer

Bats and balls, yes, I can see, but I can find no mention of beer.

I don't know if you're allowed to drink beer in a public park so I didn't exactly want to advertise on the front page
Allowed? No. Able to? Hell yes!
SOMEBODY FIND US A FIELD
Garfield at 23rd and Cherry
Does it need to be reserved?
Well we cannot claim any field without a reservation.

We also cannot make a reservation without money.

SOMEBODY GO PAY THEM BITCHES
Can't you just siphon some money from SB Nation?
This is right next to Ezell's.

I predict that I will hungry after playing Softball.
I approve of this location.

Garfield Park is close enough to Judkins Park (south of Garfield on 23rd)

or the park at the corner of 23rd and Massachusetts (hidden by trees and greenery)

and if all three of those are full, we can turn around and try Madrona Park (near 33rd and Union).

I shall enter Matthew under a pseudonym
Do I get to guess which one it was at the game?
You'll never get it
And then Jeff's drink wears off and all his stats are wrong.

Nobody will get this reference.

I'll be there, regardless of Sullivans worries of the safety of his head
Use the signup sheet please
You have to translate that into athlete first
Use the signup sheet faggot
Getting REAL

Just in case people are checking this… I have left a couple of messages with the parks dept. I’ll ping my local baseball league buddies to find out if there is a better contact for reserving the field. I’m going to head up getting a field, unless someone else has beat me to it.

First question: Does anyone give a hoot if the we are talking a full sized field or a youth field? There are like 3x more youth fields in this city.

Second question: There are many many fields all over town – is the consensus that a centralized area like cap hill is better – or will people go anywhere? There are 3 softball fields in Lincoln Park in W Seattle, for instance, that I never see anyone on. But that’s.. far.

Bless you

People will probably go anywhere, but a centralized area has worked for us before and it’s most convenient for the most people, I think.
