Haiku are about nature, and commonly contain a reference to a season. This is more accurately a senryuu, which has a seventeen syllables or fewer, doesn’t reference nature, and is usually about dark or about human foibles or what have you.
But I’m not going to be a dick about that because that’s not a distinction that’s commonly known to a lot of people, sort of like how I’d roll my eyes if someone tried to bust out grammar on the previous paragraph because they probably don’t know how the plural works in Japanese.
Better to be a dick about bad writing in general and the fact that someone with ~250 posts hereabouts is acting like they have a better grasp on the standards than the rest of us.

We are like the Royals, the Pirates, the Nationals, the Orioles. We are so bad. 41-70. I’ve followed this team for a long time. I don’t remember being this bad before (although I’m sure we were; I know we were). I remember years when it was hopeless; when I knew from the start it was going to be bad. But this is just incredibly sad. I honestly thought that GMZ was going to end the years of futility. He still may, but he might not. I feel like my hope for ever cheering for a WS winner or even WS contender is never going to happen. (The Mariners are my team.) Baseball is breaking my heart. Baseball is something that you can care passionately about that really means nothing. I just have to remember that in the big picture of life, it really means nothing. Even with that recognition, it still hurts. Sorry for the bummer post, it’s been that kind of year.
Yuck

Moved to Pittsburgh in May. Watching the Pirates lose is far less irritating.
Not that that’s why I moved to Pittsburgh.

I'm sure it was for the welcoming atmosphere and clean air.
JY - August 7, 2010
On further examination, it looks like Pittsburgh sucks a lot less than I thought it did.
Whatever. Fuck the Steelers.

Your one of a kind JY. Rec for fuck the steelers.

Please remember to always capitalize, press the reply button, and if possible use correct grammar (though some mistakes are okay).
CapSea - August 7, 2010
But do the Steelers really deserve to be capitalized?
I mean, I know it should be but really, fuck them!

Quick question, does that haiku even work properly?
I always read contractions out in full but I am unfamiliar with the proper rules of haiku regarding such a thing.
Kermit. - August 8, 2010
It's not pretty. But the syllables are correct.
It’s not poetry anyway, it’s simply writing out words and using 5/7/5 paragraph breaks.
CapSea - August 8, 2010
If you want to get really technical about it....
