The Inevitable Conclusion of the Shawn Kelley Saga

In shocking news, Shawn Kelley is almost certainly headed for surgery. Surgery that could keep him out for all of 2011 or he could possibly be ready for Spring Training.

The good always die young. Or leave. Or have an uncharacteristically unlucky season. Or come back when they're old and bad.

Some times the good get injured and come back and are still all right but not quite as good as before

and then they get traded in the Cliff Lee deal.

Or regress like Franklin, or are named Ichiro. Or get traded for better just when they start to suck like JJ.

Gotta love selective memory, confirmation bias and the self-pity of the disappointed sports fan. I know, because reading Matthew’s comment felt exactly right to me.

The mediocre become terrible, or steadily worse and stick around without even getting injured,

or leave and get better. Or get better and back to Matthew’s original point.

this thread is not about Brandon Morrow.
