And Now A Sunday SoftbaLL Reminder Too

This may have gotten buried by the spate of recent posts, but as we always do, we're arranging a softball game the day after the event.

-Here's the original post

-Here's the sign-up sheet

That's Sunday, September 5th. I'd say a good time to show up is between 11:30-12. Now there's the matter of where to show up. Matthew suggested some fields in and around Capitol Hill, but hot sexy reader Travis Young did some investigating and was told that the only softball fields available to be reserved this weekend are these, in Greenlake. Would that work for people? I have no idea what demand will be like this weekend. My sense for this shit is terrible. A couple months ago I made reservations for Ms. Jeff and I to eat at a really nice restaurant in Bend, and we were the only people there. So are you okay with playing it safe, or would you rather take a chance on what might be a more convenient location somewhere else?

I should also note that the forecast calls for a chance of showers on Sunday. We'll play through, unless it's too miserable, in which case I'll pussy out and re-schedule.

regarding your Bend story....

Having reservations in never a bad idea and if the place is dead I won’t tell the hostess I made a reservation. It drives my wife nuts.

Personally, I would go with taking a chance and showing up at a field.

The one at Garfield was nice last time.

I'm not going to complain about the fields by Greenlake.

NOAA: Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 64.

KOMO weather: Mid-range forecast models bring in a trough of low pressure over Western Washington starting Saturday, but it won’t be strong enough to initiate widespread rainfall. There is the chance of some scattered showers on Saturday, but the big change will be the return of the clouds. It will be cooler, too, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Both Sunday and Labor Day will be mainly cloudy and cool for early September, but it should be mainly dry (except for the mountains). Highs will stay in the mid to upper 60s.

Greenlake fields are nice, but I've never had any luck finding one open.

In my experience, if they’re reserved, then that’s it. Garfield was good last time. No outfield fence, but it had a decent infield.

We could reserve one and get a permit
Yep - Greenlake is actually wide-open so far this weekend.

And, IMO – this is a pretty good location. There are four fields and we’d have priority on at least one.

The problem I see possible with Garfield is that I was told they are not allowing reservations at any fields other than Greenlake because soccer goals were being put up everywhere else across the city.

Now, there is one baseball field at Garfield – but my guess is that isn’t what everyone is talking about, if there is no fence. AND – could be taken up by baseball leagues.

Greenlake = for sure if we want it. Elsewhere we take our chances. In my experience Greenlake is actually really easy to get to as well…

There's a baseball field and two softball diamonds opposite the baseball field at Garfield.

I would enjoy a field with a fence, though. Having the ability to go yard is fun.

Really?

Would’ve thought that these get booked up way in advance. I guess all the leagues must be done now. Sounds like the best bet then. We should grab a field.

Someone should bring a radio since Felix is pitching that day
Someone always has!
Is there a time that works best?

We seemed to just sort of nebulously throw out something in the 11:30 to 1pm range

I'm going with 11:30-12
