The Mariners aren't playing today, which makes this the perfect night to check out a more talented affiliate in the first round of the PCL playoffs. After a wild Game 1 that saw the Rainiers rally past the Sacramento River Cats, they'll look to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series tonight. It's Blake Beavan versus something Banwart at 7:05, and you should follow along to see if what the hell we're playing against Tommy Everidge
You should pay attention to the Padres/Giants series too. Football can crawl into a hole and die.

To the future!
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Rainiers!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Playoffs!
joey90 - September 9, 2010
We're starting Beavan? fuck. Could've sent Felix down to get him some playoff experience.
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Yay Ackley!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
What the fuck, Halman's walked twice in as many days.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Well this is going well
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Halman forbidden to swing?
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Smoak walked 4 times yesterday!
3 normal, 1 intentional.
ambrosia2112 - September 9, 2010
Blake Beavan is really tall!
6’7".
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Everidge is back with the A's?
Round Rock is now less round
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Justin Smoak is the greatest post-season player ever.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Yep.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Anyone else having problems getting the radio link to work?
Mine just says waiting for video and no sound… suggestions?
ambrosia2112 - September 9, 2010
Open in VLC player
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Well that worked...
and let me know that the stream for today’s game was current;y unavailable. Hahahaha
ambrosia2112 - September 9, 2010
It's working fine for me in Firefox
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Not working for me in firefox.
And bearskin, that’s not very productive, i was hoping that someone else would have had the same problem and possibly been able to help me.
ambrosia2112 - September 9, 2010
Lighten up
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Your comment wasn't very light, it was offensive.
ambrosia2112 - September 9, 2010
This is a game thread. Lighten up.
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Yea asshole.
Maybe upgrade your windows media player?
LeftArrow2 - September 9, 2010
Tough titty
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Way late but Tacoma's radio link has never worked for me-always says waiting for video.
I always listen to the other team’s broadcast no problem.
wazzu93 - September 9, 2010
These guys are ready to be Mariners
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Felix + Mariners vs Michael Pineda + Tacoma
Felix would dominate, but the Mariners would fail to get a run after 9 innings of 0-0 ball. Aardsma gives up a home run in the 10th.
LeftArrow2 - September 9, 2010
Seeing as Pineda would only go about six innings I think the Mariners would win.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I see you are optimistic the Mariners could hit once they got past the starter,
unfortunately, Cortes and Leuke could probably shut the M’s down for a week.
olystuart - September 9, 2010
The M's would just get to Scott Patterson in the seventh.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Aw :(
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
For a guy whose stuff kinda sucks Beavan sure takes his time between pitches.
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
You making me kinda miss Beluga Tits.
Double06 - September 9, 2010
Balk
Argh
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010

Aubrey Huff IS awesome.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010

Jeff Sullivan - September 9, 2010
So, in MiLB.TV, they don't cut to commercial.
I am watching an “athletic bunny” race a giant bottle of Nestle chocolate milk and a giant River Cat around the infield.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
Oh shit this is on mlbtv?
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
No.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
No, M"i"LB.tv
One month $6. What the hell, I’ll watch the PCL playoffs.
Baseball that kinda matters!
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
oh MiLBtv
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Carp has this absurdly hopeful look on his face in the box.
It’s like he forgot he was Mike Carp.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
Being in the OF must help
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Are we still mad at Greg Halman if he swings at one pitch out of 7 and still strikes out?
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
The sixth pitch appears to have been borderline
Jeff Sullivan - September 9, 2010
Cocks.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
That was bullshit
The ball got tucked under a flap at the bottom of the right field wall.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
That's bullchips.
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
Man...
Listen to that crowd. Don’t get used to it, boys.
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Ouch.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
Fat Ichiro's not living up to the second part of his nickname so far.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Hi, I'm Pablo Sandoval.
I’m here to swing at the ball every time, and I’m also here to ground into double plays.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Hi Pablo, I'm Juan Uribe and I'm going to negate the damage you do tonight.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
In Sac and I will say that Wimberly has some speed
Although every other skill is non-existent
BW Kropotkin - September 9, 2010
Dude,
3 straight to Winfree. None of them easy, but none of them fielded wall. It looked like he was struggling to get a read on it.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
I kinda like Tommy Everidge.
He gave me a bat he used in a spring training game in March.
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
There's something about oversize AAAA guys that seems to win them a lot of fans
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
I wanted him to do well.
Too bad he kinda sucked ass in Tacoma.
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
I wasn't at all happy when we lost Everidge
Thankfully we still have Brad Nelson.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
So long, Sogard!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I am so grateful that the Padres will not be facing Zito during this series.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Aaaaand Smoak's still batting 1.000 for the series
olystuart - September 9, 2010
And Alfonzo's still at .000
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
And Ackley is still gorgeous
BW Kropotkin - September 9, 2010
I prefer dreamy.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Does luscious work?
BW Kropotkin - September 9, 2010
It's an acceptable substitute for Dashing.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Why I capitalised dashing I do not know.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Ackley deserves it.
BW Kropotkin - September 9, 2010
Wow, that makes giving up Cliff Lee seem like nothing.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
The mascot is now spraying a red mohawk on a random fan's head.
In the name of Supercuts.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
Coincidentally, that is why I stopped going to Supercuts.
SeattExPat - September 9, 2010
Nicely done, Awebrey.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I would kill to have Buster Posey be a Mariner.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Sweet jesus I would, too.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
There's been moments where he reminds me of Edgar
BW Kropotkin - September 9, 2010
Is he the frontrunner for the ROY in the NL?
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
Depends on who you ask.
Jason Heyward has a pretty devoted fanbase.
Jaime Garcia gets endorsements.
And Gaby Sanchez is the other name I’ve heard most often in the discussion.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Neil Walker should be in that discussion...
He’s posting numbers similar to Posey, except he strikes out more. Defense isn’t that great either, but come on. I hear nothing about him in the ROY discussions. Probably because he seems to be playing over his head and won’t be able to sustain these numbers. But isn’t ROY supposed to be for who has the best season as a rookie, not who will become a star? I don’t think he deserves the award of Posey, but I’d like to hear him be in the discussion a bit.
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
I fucking hate radio adverts
They so loud and tedious
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
My typing is atrocious tonight.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Blake Beavan has no strikeouts.
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
Adventures in fielding with Jose Guillen.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
ARE THE WORST ADVENTURES EVER
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
So Beavan seems to be terrible
Bearskin Rugburn - September 9, 2010
Who is David Winfree?
MFAN - September 9, 2010
Who is Mike Baxter?
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Former Yankees minor leaguer that the Mariners picked up for nothing.
w00tah - September 9, 2010
Well, his name isn't Wincostssomething.
Eyebrows - September 9, 2010
Instant rimshot.
w00tah - September 9, 2010
I am in love with this Giants game.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Pat Burrell knows he has to hit it out of the park or Pablo Sandoval will get them both out.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
It is pretty fantastic.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Justin Smoak is unstoppable.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Justin Smoak.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Wow - Smoak, again?
ambrosia2112 - September 9, 2010
UNSTOPPABLE
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Has he been on a hot streak?
Or is this something new?
hairofthedawg - September 9, 2010
You'll have to ask someone who pays more attention to the team than I do.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Seems he's been a little hot lately
From Jay’s always excellent Minor League Wrap
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Thanks, I was just reading that.
Hopefully he’ll carry the confidence over to next year.
hairofthedawg - September 9, 2010
You shouldn't be so angry about football
Dewey N - September 9, 2010
I think it's unbecoming
Dewey N - September 9, 2010
That's swell...
tait644 - September 9, 2010
Matt Cain.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
In his last 16 starts against San Diego, Matt Cain has one win.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
I'm really thrilled with both this game and the Minor League Gameday
Way more informative, I love it.
ungoreatstefan - September 9, 2010
Smoackley!
w00tah - September 9, 2010
ACKLEY!
GRAND SLAM!
w00tah - September 9, 2010

w00tah - September 9, 2010
IN PLAY, RUN(S)
Decatur - September 9, 2010
Dustin Ackley will be the hero and champion of our franchise
Dewey N - September 9, 2010
He certainly looks the part.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
This makes me happy
Dewey N - September 9, 2010
Will he come back when he's old and decrepit and demand a recliner and playing time?
Decatur - September 9, 2010
ACKLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tait644 - September 9, 2010
SMACKLEY!!!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
So, when Ackley and Smoak start to kick ass, is it:
Smackley, or Smoakley?
tait644 - September 9, 2010
When they suck, it's Schmuckly
Decatur - September 9, 2010
Dustin Smoak
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I went to the Rainiers last month
and couldn’t stop saying “Djustin Smoakley!!!” to myself for like two days.
short - September 9, 2010
Why did I use caps for a minor league game...
:( Mariners.
w00tah - September 9, 2010
Thanks, buzzkill.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
BECAUSE IT'S THE PLAYOFFS AND YOU'RE EXCITED ABOUT THE FUTURE
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010

kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME ALSO.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010

Decatur - September 9, 2010
ACKLEY!
Kawnliee - September 9, 2010
Ack Right!
Sportszilla - September 9, 2010
I predict a strikeout.
Decatur - September 9, 2010
Do this more often.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
This is insane.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Halman walking amirite.
w00tah - September 9, 2010
That is indeed what I was referring to.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Benacka's line for that inning is interesting.
4 balls, 3 strikes. One walk, one striikeout. He doesn’t waste time on anything!
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Listening to the Bates Technical College commercial
At first I thought it was a religious ad, as they kept talking about faith and how it could help you. Turns out they were saying Bates.
Janic - September 9, 2010
I just realized Mike Carp is playing left field.
w00tah - September 9, 2010
HAHAHAHA
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Is there a reason Mangini isn't playing?
They had a day off on Tuesday, right?
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Slightly injured but he's available for pinch-hitting.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
What's the injured part?
truemsfan - September 9, 2010
If I could remember I would've said.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I haven't really been paying much attention to the Rainiers lately...
What happened? When did he get injured?
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010

joof - September 9, 2010
John Halama is a lefty? Whoa
Slurvey - September 9, 2010
Halama and Tomko.
Will the A’s sign Sele to a minor league contract too?
w00tah - September 9, 2010
A strikeout!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
K!
Slurvey - September 9, 2010
Blake Beavan got himself a strikeout!
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
I dislike Corey Wimberley.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Uh oh
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Cesar Ramos has a 21.21 ERA.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Leavale Speigner time!
Gives me another opportunity to link to the crazy
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Oh my.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Very mildly put!
hairofthedawg - September 9, 2010
WHAT?!
w00tah - September 9, 2010
Fuck you, Levale Speigner
Everidge :(
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Well this pitching change has'nt gone as planned
jackyz - September 9, 2010 via mobile
There was an air of predictability about it when they didn't go to Lueke or Cortes.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Going to Speigner with Lueke and Cortes avaliable?
Are all teams related to the M’s bad at bullpen management?
Slurvey - September 9, 2010
Did you see the batting order?
w00tah - September 9, 2010
Mike Wilson in as a pinch-runner. Pretty fast for a big guy but still makes me laugh
Slurvey - September 9, 2010
Alfonzo is actually making me want Rob Johnson to play.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Slurvey - September 9, 2010
WOOO RAINIERS!
w00tah - September 9, 2010
15-25 feet short ouch.
Slurvey - September 9, 2010

FUCK YOU JOHN HALAMA
Slurvey - September 9, 2010
Greg Halman is having the greatest at-bats.

Haha.
2 BB’s and a HBP for Halman?
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Greg Halman is an on-base machine!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Lordy is Halama bad.
truemsfan - September 9, 2010
Wow, John Halama sucks now
ARock - September 9, 2010
Halman responding to Dave's post.
w00tah - September 9, 2010
I haven't enjoyed a baseball game this much in a while.
And I’m not even watching or listening to it! Just have Gameday open. This game has gone by about 348290 times faster than the average Mariners game.
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
I was just going to say this.
This is much more fun than watching the Mariners.
ARock - September 9, 2010
Last night's game, however, dragged like you wouldn't believe.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Holy shit, I passed out before the it was over-sooooooo long.
wazzu93 - September 9, 2010
I had to leave it early because I had a bus to catch.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I wished I was hit by a bus before it was over.
wazzu93 - September 9, 2010
But the Rainiers won!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I know! Saw that when I woke up 5 hrs later :)
wazzu93 - September 9, 2010
Oh, it actually was really long.
I thought you meant it seemed long. Over 4 hours?!? What the hell happened?
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Really?
Looks like an interesting game judging by the box score. Weird. It happens though.
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
The first part was okay but it took like an hour and a half to get thru 2 innings, then it was just holy shit end already.
wazzu93 - September 9, 2010
I hear ya. I have tickets for tomorrow and I can't wait!
truemsfan - September 9, 2010
They should put tomorrow's game on MLB.tv because it's in a Major League ballpark.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Jon Hunton's GameDay picture is delightfully unflattering.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
It looks like his beard is eating his face...
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Lueke!
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
Yay!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
I got his autograph at the game where Ackley hit a walkoff home run.
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
Next thing you know it will be evidence in a civil suit.
dp04 - September 9, 2010
Haha.
kennerdoloman - September 9, 2010
Giants!
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Woo!
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
This appears to be a good night for both of us.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
Think Mangini will pinch-hit for Wilson?
That would make this game even more fun.
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Smoak back to his usual playoff self.
Eyeball Kid - September 9, 2010
Smoak has been on base....
what, 11 out of 12 trips to the plate this series?
Kawnliee - September 9, 2010
Justin Smoak.
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
It's stuff like this that makes me excited for 2012
FaceRuiner - September 9, 2010
I just notices that the weather thing on Gameday says that the wind is blowing "calm MPH"
If that’s too specific, it goes on to say that it is Calm.
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
It shows 2 mph on my screen.
I wish it said “calm MPH.”
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
It just updated.
Mine says 2 MPH now as well.
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Lueke time!
Kawnliee - September 9, 2010
Double play time!
nemo1 - September 9, 2010
6-4-3 Double play!
zehavi - September 9, 2010
Well I was doing my Ap Pyhsics HW and if I did the math right...
Assuming gravity is the only force acting on a pop up that went straight up into the air and has been free falling for 4 seconds, falls 78.4 metres. That’s Eric Brynes territory pop-ups there.
Slurvey - September 9, 2010
Cool laws, Newton.
w00tah - September 9, 2010
So the ball was in the air 8 seconds?
joey90 - September 9, 2010
Eric Sogard does not look like a baseball player.

He looks like the tech nerds I work with

truemsfan - September 9, 2010

nemo1 - September 9, 2010
Victory!
Kawnliee - September 9, 2010
Postseason baseball in Seattle!
Joe Metro - September 9, 2010
John Halama started this season with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs,
his third season with the Blue Crabs.
I once got blue crabs from this girl. I hate that.
Ralph_Malph - September 9, 2010
I love looking at independent league rosters.
Did you know Scott Spiezio and Carl Everett are playing for the Long Island Ducks?
Ralph_Malph - September 9, 2010
Sorry, Newark Bears.
