Here enclosed you will find the Seattle Mariners-related podcast that has previously been referenced in today's postings. A great flower awaits you if you look in the right valley.
That’s one of the strengths of your writing — it reads like you are chatting. Given that you do podcasts and I know what your voice sounds like, I often hear your voice while reading.
Soccer, even though Seattle now has a team, and basketball even when Seattle had a team, were sports I was or likely will never be interested in.
Hockey on the other hand is always a sport I’ve had a kind of half interest in getting into, but just never had that hook that would make me dive right in. Seattle getting a NHL team would go a long ways to turning me into a fan of the sport.
Watching a hockey game in person will be enough to hook you I think...
The fluidity of skating and passing at the highest level is mind-blowing. And then you watch a 230lb dude hit left-winger with his head down at full speed, and you’ll realize that a football hit is basically patty-cake.
I kinda followed it in the late 90’s after getting hooked on a hockey computed game, when I made my first trip to the US I saw a game live and it was EPIC.
I run sound at concerts for a living and record bands for another, less lucrative living.
Send me a 4 hour .wav and I’ll make you sound like (insert band who you’ve noticed has really good production)
On the baseball part: From June on, Olivo walked 4 times. That’s less than once a month. There are people who smoke crack more frequently than Miguel Olivo walks and aren’t considered crack heads. AND YET that first month, he walked once in June and posted his best slg%. Seems like he thought ’hey I should be more aggressive, I hit dingers" and took it way too far.
I shouldn't be surprised you guys thought of Lahars as a team name.

The Carlos Peguero bit was my favorite.
Cascadian Man - February 8, 2012
I will edit the podcasts if you do them more.
Seriously.

On LL read aloud...

…Which, well, that’s either good bad.
Pete_ - February 8, 2012
What are you wearing?
Matthew - February 8, 2012
That's a weird thing to say.
Pete_ - February 8, 2012
LL podcasts are my sole reason for living.
It’s a shoe joke! Get it?
Henry Valz - February 8, 2012
Or a fish joke.

I can attest to this.

EA's NHL 97?
Nice memories!
GermanMariner - February 9, 2012
Brett Hull(sp?) Hockey, 1995 or maybe 1996.
Aussie Mariner - February 10, 2012
It doesn't work with the WHL though because the players are in generally not very good.
Mariner John - February 9, 2012
They're so bad!
How do you fall down so much!
Matthew - February 10, 2012
I went to a Thunderbirds game last Tuesday and saw dropped sticks, skaters falling down and really, really sloppy passing.
And I just went “professional hockey?”
harkening - February 10, 2012
To be fair, most of them are still just douchebags going to high school so they're still really young.
But yeah they are terrible at passing.
Mariner John - February 10, 2012
Alright, we're settled on the Cascades then.

I saw this podcast before work.
And I was excited all day to get home and have the time to listen to it.

Read Ball Four to them.
Shitfucks and fuckshits are universally recognized..
hairofthedawg - February 9, 2012
It would be amazing if Ackley hit 20 triples in 2012.

If an everyday player was having a monster season
If say, Smoak was hitting like he did in April going into August or September, think I could tune in pretty regularly.
Poochie - February 9, 2012
I plan on climbing Mt Adams as well this summer
I will leave a Anthony Vazquez statue at the summit for you

I for one am a big fan of Matthew's voice.
Benne - February 9, 2012
Right??
Jeff Sullivan - February 9, 2012
So Matthew likes Pittsburgh teams.
This is what I gathered from his civic sports team unity stance and from misapplying things.
